La Muse Press has released its debut book, Street Magic: Stories and Tales (2011), written by Mary B. Banks of Baltimore, MD. Paperback editions are available on Amazon and by contacting the author.
“Elvis,” which appears in the collection, is a short story about an African-American prophet, Mr. Jones, who becomes a neighborhood legend. The story is set in Baltimore City during the Civil Rights Movement. “Elvis” first appeared as a web supplement for The Baltimore Urbanite, New Voices: Emerging Writers Issue (September 2009).
